10 Best electric toothbrushes of 2018!
Consumer [reviews] & [reports]

Best Electric Toothbrush 2018Hello everyone! My name is Steve.

As my grandmother told me:
“If you do not have time for teeth brushing, a set of false teeth will be your best defense from caries”.

Electric toothbrushes aren’t a new gadget, but new models working better year to year. When I started to choose a toothbrush, it was a really hard work.

I’ve made some Internet researchers. Then I bought toothbrushes and testing it for a couple of months. So, I made the Top-10 list of the best electric toothbrushes of 2018 that you can buy right now. I posted the list online, so you could use this information. Welcome!

I have chosen a toothbrush, that allows me to have the maximally comfortable and nice time during the tooth brushing.

Some toothbrushes from the review are expensive. But I think that it makes more sense to overpay once than be bored every morning and evening. Because as a result, you stop teeth brushing before the timer goes off. Moreover, some models are really loud. Seriously. Some toothbrushes that I’ve tried were making a sound of a dentist drill.

Let’s not waste any more time for the long backstories and move on to the list.

Table of contents

Further I will tell you about devices in more detail and describe my own experience with them. Run ahead I want to note that I use toothbrush Oral-B Genius Pro 8000 (#2 in rating). That’s because I like high-tech gadgets. I’m sure there will be worth competitors among participants of Best Electric Toothbrush 2018. But now it’s optimal for me among new electric toothbrushes.

Philips Sonicare Diamond Clean – Best sonicare toothbrush

Philips Sonicare Diamond Clean – Best sonicare toothbrush of 2018 The first thing bursts upon the eye is materials’ quality. Certain smartphone vendors might learn a lot about usability if they just looked at package with Philips Sonicare DiamondClean. Toothbrush is placed in plastic case which obtected velvety inside, pleasant to the touch material. Additionally this material is built-in charger.

It would seem there are ordinary glass with holder as a unit. But it is built-in charger too. Firstly I thought that it’s just additional gadget. But in practice it helps keep in mind to charge the toothbrush. Therewith it looks very nice.

Supplied as a unit, two brushes have an enough solidity – not so soft but not too hard, so that there aren’t an irritation. Bristles’ tips of diamond-shaped attachments Diamond Clean will carefully and effective remove any darkening (through drinking coffee, tea, red wine and smoking cigarettes) from enamel just in one week.

Built-in generator in toothbrush Philips Sonicare produce special sound waves which drive bristles. The nature of these motions is sweeping i.e. bristles move up-down during cleaning process, doing 31 000 that motions per minute. Bristles’ beats are creating directed flow of liquid (because there are mixed toothpaste, saliva and water from brush).

We have five work programs for choosing – cleaning, whitening, odontexesis, gums massage and programs for sensitive teeth. But when you are brushing teeth you can’t see active mode. And you will not able to get back it from mouth – all will be gushed with tooth paste. However if you use toothbrush for only one mode this disadvantage will be trivial.

DiamondClean has an new generation Li-ion battery which can work up to 21 days without recharging if you will use it twice per day during two minutes in Clean mode. Toothbrush is economic in use: any Philips Sonicare attachment will be applicable to DiamondClean.

Sound technology Sonicare is fundamental different against ultrasound technology because it work not on frequencies about 260Hz while ultrasonic brush, but on much higher frequencies – more than 20 000 Hz.

As a plus will be presence a built-in counter with few programs and 30 sec. intervals. You don’t need remember if you cleaned teeth for enough time, just set up timer on your smartphone – because toothbrush can stop working, for example, after 2 minutes of cleaning. Like a small things but very usefull.

The cost of toothbrush enough stiff but we pay high price for a premium product. Brush, which not only clean teeth much accurately than traditional solutions, which founded on acoustic cleaning technology and which can ensure perfect result with noticeably easy-to-use utilization.
Good material’s quality
Hold the charge for a long time (up to 3-th week for everyday using)

The device has a nice soft-touch coating and 12 various modes for LED lights – both children and adults will definitely find it awesome. At first sight, Oral-B Genius 9000 seems unusual when compared to traditional toothbrush, but you’ll get used to it very soon. Moreover, device can work in 6 different modes – they include three types of tooth brushing, whitening, gum cleaning and even tongue cleaning. So called «three-dimensional» technology of tooth brushing combines swinging movements with pulsation, but pulsation stops right after excessive pressure on teeth to prevent any possible damage.

The most interesting features become available after the linking toothbrush with iOS or Android smartphone via Bluetooth and installing the “Oral-B App”. Built-in sensor, which defines cleaning zones, uses this app to access the smartphone front camera, and helps to evenly clean the oral cavity.

Using the application, the “clever” toothbrush can provide the user with information about the pressure and the duration of brushing. Built-in pressure sensor slows down the speed of the head rotation to prevent premature destroying of the gum tissue. Also, for the people with bad self-discipline, there are rewards for scrupulous cleaning.

The toothbrush is equipped with a charger, a smart travel case, that is designed to charge not only the toothbrush, but also a smartphone, four extra heads with a container to keep them in, and a smartphone holder. Electric toothbrush for sensitive teeth.

When we finally try to look for the electric toothbrush for sensitive teeth and receding gums we were cautious. A lot of times gum problems could be ideal dealt with using a manual toothbrush. However today’s technology has allowed companies to give a much bigger variety of devices ideal for people who have problems with teeth or gum problems. For innovation’s and technologies’ amateurs I recommend Oral-B Genius Pro 8000 to consider – current brush cannot be compared with it in questions of functionality. Toothbrush is fulfilled out of premium materials.
Comfortable design and qualitative materials.
Qualitative no-float assembly.

If without smartphone there isn’t user-friendly interface.
Charging is long.
Excessive functionality (90% consumers won’t use it).

Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum – New electric toothbrush for bleeding gums

Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum – Rechargeable toothbrushElectric toothbrush Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum has stylish design. Unique cleaning technology Sonicare, which produces foam from toothpaste, saliva and oxygen, not only allows you to brush your teeth in the most effective way possible, but also helps to clean interproximal spaces and the most inaccessible areas. Housing of the toothbrush is made of the high quality plastic, that doesn’t slide in the hand while brushing and prevents any possibility to damage gums and teeth.

The toothbrush is equipped with the battery indicator, which will inform you about the need to recharge the battery with the red light. The full battery charge allows you to brush your teeth for 21 days straight on condition that it’s being used twice a day. Cleaning modes are also listed on the body of the toothbrush, and every of them is lit after you choose it.

There are two heads in the set: a small one and a big one. The small head seemed uncomfortable to me. Vibration of the brush is pretty strong, so you will have to get used to it. Any awkward movement – and there are splashes of toothpaste all over your bathroom. After extended use the gap between gray and white parts of the brush becomes covered with dirt, and it’s not that easy to clean it up.

Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum came out in 2014 and was lider of this year. It has a number of advantages over the earlier models. The toothbrush became more functional thanks to the indicator of pressure on teeth. Vibrations will signalize you about the excessive pushing.

The toothbrush modes are defined on 3 levels of intensity, so every mode has another 3 levels of intensity that is regulated by the special button on the front of the brush. In order to provide even more comfort, there is an Easy-start function, which regulates intensity of the cleaning, gradually increasing it during the first two weeks.
Unique InterCare heads are made of rounded bristles, that doesn’t damage gums or scratch the tooth enamel. Rows of bristles are placed in the special way, which will allow to carefully clean interproximal spaces and the teeth gum line.

3 working modes:

The brush has two heads – standard head and a compact one. The bristles on them are rounded and doesn’t damage gums or tooth enamel. The blue bristles are made both for a careful plaque removal and as a wear indicator. Color change of the bristles will notify you to change the head. Improved head technology with a chosen working mode allows to whiten the teeth to the natural state for 28 days.

The brush has a patented sonic technology SoniCare, which provides unmatched cleaning effect. Furthermore, it’s cheaper than the top model – Philips Sonicare Diamond Clean. A good budget choice for the care of your teeth.
A comfortable grip;
Excellent equipment! Timer + whitening mode;
Has an accustoming mode;
It’s easy to change the heads.
Fully customizable settings;
Even my dentist was impressed, when I told him about it.
One of the heads seemed not very comfy to me;
It’s unusual after the regular toothbrush.

Oral-B Power PRO 3000 – Аutomatic battery powered toothbrush

Oral-B Power PRO 3000 – Аutomatic battery powered toothbrushThe new model of a modern electric toothbrush ORAL-B Trizone 3000 will be a good choice for those, who are used to take care about the purity of their oral cavity and the whiteness of their smile, while saving money. This toothbrush has 3 replaceable heads, each of them providing its own type of use – removing plaque from the enamel, polishing and soft whitening of the teeth, cleaning out food debris from the interproximal areas. ORAL-B Trizone 3000 was the winner of rating 2015 because it is equipped with a countdown timer of the duration of brushing and a pressure sensor – that provides great result after every use. The brush of this model can work on the power of the Internal battery up to 28 minutes without additional recharge.

Three-zone cleaning technology: the Power Tip bristles clean inaccessible areas, stationary pulsating bristles carefully clean the main surface of the teeth, and the lengthy rotary pulsating bristle gets in the interproximal area. Bristles get deep into the gaps between the teeth, removing up to 100% more plaque when compared to an ordinary toothbrush without changeable cleaning technique.

The front part of a head is moving and has lengthy bristles, that allows to reach even the farthest teeth without the need to widely open the mouth. I think, that it’s very comfortable.

The head is designed for three months of use (on average), on condition that we will brush our teeth for 2 minutes twice a day. This brush also has an indicator of wear. Here’s how discolored bristle looks after 3 months of use.
Charger. After the brush, which worked on the batteries, this one seemed to me as the most comfortable toothbrush in the world. You don’t even need to think about batteries or accumulators, that are getting lost all the time. One charge is enough for me for a week of use.

A good budget toothbrush for the whole family. It holds a good charge and there’s not a single problem after a year of use.
A short cord for the charger;
Nicely holds a charge;
3 modes of cleaning.
It’s a bit unusual to grip, since the handle is a lot thicker;
Not a very good quality of a rubber layer on the front of the brush, on which the button is placed;
It takes a long time to charge it.

Philips Sonicare HealthyWhite – Low Cost Sonic Toothbrush

Philips Sonicare HealthyWhite – Best Sonicare toothbrushPhilips Sonicare HealthyWhite is packed in a bright box, which contains: a toothbrush handle, Philips ProResults toothbrush head, a charger, that is also a stand for the brush itself and a pair of heads, travel toothbrush case for the brush and heads, and various papers (manual, warranty card and certificate of conformity).

The handle immediately draws attention: it’s made from plastic and soft rubber. Materials don’t have any roughness or scratches. It feels weighty in hand (of course it does – after the use of a regular plastic toothbrush), but it’s not hard to hold. At least, during the two minutes, that takes to clean the teeth, the hand doesn’t get tired. The assembly quality is on top, everything fits together just perfectly. Of course, the handle is waterproofed.

The head is easily placed on a metal pin, leaving a small gap. It may scare at first: is it a defect? No way! This is made on purpose to provide some space for vibration.

In total, Philips Sonicare HealthyWhite creates a very nice impression of a high quality device. Also, it works just fine.

Though my toothbrush worked fine during tests, there are many reports on the internet stating that this model shuts off right after the last day of warranty. The price of this brush looks good, but if you’re going to buy it, check out reviews first.

Sonic brush Sonicare HealthyWhite HX6731/02 will surprise even those, who already had experience with an electric toothbrush and got used to its noise. The Philips device resembles the sound of a dental machine – but it’s much quieter. But forget about uneasy associations! The brushing procedure is absolutely painless.

Indeed, the first impression was right: it’s very comfortable to use the toothbrush, and the rubber handle doesn’t slide even in wet hands.

One cycle of cleaning lasts for 2 minutes. This is exactly how long dentists recommend to do it. But there’s one thing: for the manual brush 2 minutes is a required minimum. To carefully remove the tooth plaque, one should spend around 10-15 seconds on each tooth. So, you’ll need at least 5 minutes with a manual toothbrush. It’s long. Especially in the morning, when you’re late for work or studies and each minute is precious. Sonic toothbrush helps to save time.

During the brushing, every 30 seconds there will be a sound signal, which warns you that you should start to clean the next zone of the oral cavity. Begin with the outer surface of the upper teeth, then clean the inner surface and go to the next jaw. After the whole cycle the toothbrush will turn off automatically.

There’s one more moment. Many people have question. Can they use a sonic brush with braces or dental fillings? Philips Sonicare can be safely used to clean the repaired parts of teeth (fillings and crowns), implants, orthodontic constructions: braces, retainers and so on. But in this case service time of the head will decrease.

Philips Sonicare HealthyWhite indeed cleans well: teeth are smooth and shiny. Also, the whitening can be seen. The tooth enamel gains natural whiteness after a couple of uses. It’s looks not as good, as after a procedure from dentist, but still notably. Interdental spaces are being cleaned too: there’s almost no work left for irrigator and dental floss.
It holds charge for a long time, so you can take it with you to a short trip without a charger;
Includes a comfy case.
Removable heads are expensive;
Poorly designed power button;
Low durability.

Philips Sonicare Rechargeable Kids – Electric toothbrush for 18 month old kids

Philips Sonicare Rechargeable Kids – Best electric toothbrush for kidsHow did this toothbrush get into the review? The answer is that I have an experience with it. I don’t make experiments on my son the same way i do on myself, so there will be only one kids toothbrush in my review.

Philips Sonicare For Kids – it is a baby toothbrush for the children below 4. It provides the maximum plaque removal and has a sonic technology, individual stickers and educational accessories. They are meant for development of the tooth brushing skills. It will be remembered for the entire life.

Two sizes of brush heads

Philips Sonicare is the best electric toothbrush for kids because it has brushes of two sizes, that are designed specially for the careful cleaning and protection of the growing teeth.

KidTimer allows to increase the cleaning time

In order to help a kid get used to everyday oral hygiene routine, the electric toothbrush gradually increases the duration of cleaning in 90 days. As a result, naturally develops a good habit of brushing the teeth for 2 minutes (according to recommendations of dentists). Careful and effective tooth brushing is provided by 2 power consumption modes, that are safe for the kids.

It was liked by my kid, since it was a funny game at first. Me and my wife have an ordinary white toothbrush, so he had never expressed a desire to brush his teeth. With this one we don’t have any problems!

The toothbrush has two modes, that are safe for the children, so it guaranties the proper tooth brushing according to the age. The gentle cleaning mode is meant for the babies, and the intensive cleaning mode is used by the older kids.

Funny ringtones;
Comfy holder.
There are none. He likes everything about it.

WATER PIK – WP-300 Traveler – Сheap electric toothbrush for braces

WATER PIK – WP-300 Traveler – Best toothbrush for bracesIf you’re looking for a simple and comfortable device, that would provide the high quality of oral hygiene – Waterpik WP 300 water flosser is made for you. This device is high powered, which allows to effectively clean the oral cavity from bacteria, food debris and plaque.

Waterpik WP-300 irrigator will become your indispensable assistant in travelling.

WP 300 water flosser can be easily put in a bag for transportation. The irrigator is compact, which gives an additional convenience on travel and in the small bathrooms.

Despite the fact that this water flosser is twice smaller than stationary models, its engine offers 1200 pulsating jets per minute. The water pressure is regulated in the range from 70 to 550 kPa. The low level of noise, which Waterpik 300 creates, makes the procedure of cleaning teeth more enjoyable, as evidenced by the numerous of positive reviews. Waterpik WP-300 Traveler irrigator is the quietest, when compared with the other company devices.

If a piece of it breaks – you’ll have to buy the new one. During the time of use, the flexible tube has cracked along the handle for a couple of times, so I had to shorten the already short tube.

“Traveler” water flosser is made specially for those, who frequently travel and yet want to have the advantage of a stationary irrigator – the high water pressure. The water pressure excellently provides food debris removal from the interdental spaces, prevents tartar buildup, strengthens the gums, helps to get rid of bad breath (halitosis).

Thanks to 1200 pulsating jets per minute, that this device provides, and the powerful water stream, which nicely cleans plaque and food debris from the most inaccessible areas, WaterPik WP 300 water flosser, which you can buy at an affordable price, excellently fits for those, who wears various orthodontic appliances, such as crowns or braces.

Dentists don’t recommend to use an irrigator with ordinary water. It cleans food debris well, but, unfortunately, it’s not able to destroy harmful bacteria – that are the source of gingivitis, periodontitis, and caries. That’s why oral balms are so advisable to use.

Waterpik 300 water flosser has a comfortable long cord, which will reach to even the farthest power socket, and a universal adapter.

It has a good price/quality ratio and completely serves its purpose. The device is very compact, light and it is easy to get used to it. It perfectly cleans the interdental areas (replacing the dental floss), massages gums very good and excellently clears plaque, caused by food.
It’s compact;
Has lots of heads.
Quality of assemblage is poor;
High risk of breakage.

Why ultrasound toothbrushes and ionic toothbrushes are not in my list?

Ultrasonic toothbrush

Ultrasound toothbrushes produce oscillatory waves with high frequency (ultrasound). This waves are transmitted to the bristles of toothbrush thus they begin oscillate with high frequency too. Bristles on a electronic toothbrush part oscillate about 100 000 000 times per minute while domestic ones – 15000-30000 times/min.

Using of such brush reduces lifetime of dental fillings, veneers, crowns as well as it can destroy demineralized areas of dental enamel. It will be better to do teeth’s cleaning with ultrasound by specialist in his dental surgery. Don’t try experimentation with your health at home.

Ionic toothbrush

Ionic toothbrush label as electric toothbrush by the operating principle. The fact of the matter is that ionizing engine work on battery integrated in toothbrush’s handle. It can be legacy small-factor battery which we can find in electric wristwatch or small solar-cell (like in calculators) integrated in toothbrush’s handle.

According to vendors as more intense the ion flux strength as high the neutralization of acid in oral cavity, as high dissociation speed of calcium and fluorine compounds to active ions. Difference between charges of dental enamel and microbes is becoming high too. It permit to remove the last more efficiently from enamel’s surface.

But actually I didn’t feel any difference. Still brushing teeth on prescribed time by ionic toothbrush is considerable more tiresome thing than by modern electric one. Therefore I did not include this kind of toothbrushes in rating.

Why is it so hard to choose it?

It’s believed, that the effectiveness of tooth brushing heavily depends on two factors. The first one is if you know, how to brush your teeth right. The second one is what toothbrush do you use. The wrong choice of the cleaning device can cause a lot of harm: damage the enamel, cause gums microtraums, develop stomatitis and other troubles. Therefore, before you start choosing the toothbrush that is the best for you, first of all, check the state of your gums, the amount of plaque and the presence of orthodontic appliances, such as veneers, crowns and dental implants.

After you identify (you should better do it with a dentist) the problems you’ll have to deal with, you can start looking for a suitable toothbrush. There are plenty of brands: Phillips Sonicare, WATER PIK, Oral B and many more. All of them offer different models and modifications of toothbrushes. Let’s find out, what are the differences between a sonic brush and an electric brush and how do they impact on the oral hygiene.

Buying guide. How to buy toothbrush for home?

Electric toothbrushes in the right hands can effectively clean all of your 32 teeth for only a couple of minutes. Different heads and lots of working modes allows you to choose the most appropriate model.

There are three types of electric toothbrushes – normal, sonic and ultrasonic.

Head of an ordinary electric brush makes several rotating movements per minute. Such simple electrical toothbrushes are much cheaper, than sonic and ultrasonic models, but they barely remove plaque, especially in the inaccessible areas.
Sonic brushes do 20 000 – 30 000 vibration movements per minute, cleaning teeth much carefully. Sonic wave from the vibrating head is able to get under gum tissue up to 5 mm, that allows to remove plaque from the unseen parts of the tooth. Such toothbrushes are recommended to people, suffering from diseases of oral cavity, that limit the use of the ultrasound models.

Top 4 best sonicare (sonic) toothbrushes of 2018

  1. Philips Sonicare Diamond Clean – Best sonicare toothbrush of 2018
  2. Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum – Rechargeable sonic toothbrush
  3. Philips Sonicare HealthyWhite – Low cost sonic toothbrush of 2018
  4. Philips Sonicare Rechargeable Kids – Electric toothbrush for kids of 2018

Ultrasonic toothbrushes give the best result of the plaque removal. Besides standard and sonic methods, they are able to clean teeth not mechanically, but by generating ultrasound, which destroys plaque and tartar, but leaves the enamel untouched. However, you’ll need to consult with dentist before buying it, due to the possible medical contraindications.

An irrigator – is a device for the oral hygiene. It uses thin liquid jets under the high pressure to clean teeth and massage gums. Water flossers are used against stomatitis, caries and gum diseases, and also to get rid of the bad breath and remove plaque.

The number of heads

Many electrical toothbrushes have extra heads of different colors – for every member of a family. Standard toothbrush heads differ by the stiffness of bristle. The soft bristle is recommended for children and people with hypersensitive teeth. The medium bristle is recommended for people with healthy teeth. The hard bristle can only be used under a dentist recommendation.

In addition to a several identical heads, the set might include extra ones. The whitening head (meant for smokers and coffee lovers) has soft polishing pieces. The head for the gum massage (which is recommended for people, suffering from periodontal disease) has rubber inserts around the bristles. The interdental head (for those, who wear braces or have wide gaps between the teeth) has a thin beam of bristles, that is able to penetrate in gaps between the teeth, removing plaque in places, invisible to the eye. Standard and optional heads can also be purchased separately.

What is the best toothbrush shape?

Models that has round heads and side-to-side oscillations tend to be better simply because they hug your tooth when they brush, making sure it’s cleaning from the multiple side.

Working modes

Some of the models of electric toothbrushes have an ability to switch modes of speed and types of the head motion. The low speed mode is recommended for people with sensitive teeth and bleeding gums. It’s recommended to clean braces, lumineers or veneers at the low speed. Standard mode is suitable for the most people with healthy teeth. The whitening mode has the increased intensity of vibration or the head rotation.

Power type

All electric brushes are powered by batteries or accumulators. Cordless models are more expensive, but more economical, though they are a little heavier. Typically, one battery charge is enough to provide a few days to a whole week of daily cleaning by the all family members, and the time of charging the battery ranges from 2 to 12 hours.

Portable models of irrigators have a built-in accumulator – they can be used not only at home, but also can be taken to a cottage or on a trip. Water flossers of this type are light and compact, but just as effective as stationary models. Typically, each device has a set of different sized heads, that allows it to be used by the all family members.

For kids

It’s recommended for children to use the special kid’s toothbrushes. When compared to the adult models, they have a smaller head size and a softer bristle. Models for kids vary widely, depending on the age of the child, for which the brush is designed. Usually, the age category is specified by the manufacturer on the packaging. For the older kids, the bristles may be stiffer, and the brush head may rotate faster.

Additional functions

Pressure sensor warns about the excessive pressure of the bristle on the surface of teeth, which helps to prevent damaging of enamel or gums. This feature is useful for children and people with sensitive teeth, for whom the strong pressure on a tooth even for a short time can be painful.

The charge Indicator tells you, when you need to replace the batteries or recharge the accumulator. This addition is especially useful when traveling.

Some of the toothbrush heads have bristles, painted in a special bright color, which erases with time. It’s time to change the head, when the color of these special bristles becomes the same as the other bristles. It is necessary for hygienic purposes, as well as for the more efficient use of a toothbrush.

Expensive toothbrushes are equipped with a display, which is located either on the handle of the brush, or installed independently on a shelf, a sink or a wall. The display shows information about the tooth brushing time, the charge indicator and the wear of the head.

Who invented the toothbrush, and when was it invented?

In the era of ultrasonic and electric toothbrushes, can you imagine your life without this small and extremely irreplaceable hygienic tool? Only 75 years ago people could only dream or guess about the more or less modern toothbrush.

William Edis has established the first-ever production of toothbrushes in the United Kingdom only in the 1780. However, the patent for a toothbrush was obtained after 70 years (in the 1850) in the United States. It was granted to the unknown H. N. Wadsworth. But the mass production in the United States only started after 35 years – in 1885. It must be noted, that handles of these brushes were made from bones of the Siberian wild boar, and bristles were made from its hair.

The still known Oral-B brand presented and released on the mass market the toothbrush only in the 1938. The toothbrush bristle wasn’t animal, but was made of nylon – a synthetic material.

The world’s first electric toothbrush appeared in the 1959. In decades, the world has learned that there is also a sonic toothbrush.

Today the market is filled with offers of toothbrushes, mouthwashes, toothpastes and tooth whitening creams from various brands.

Ways to sanitize a toothbrush

Antiseptic mouthwash: Dip the toothbrush in antiseptic mouthwash for about 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, remove the toothbrush from mouthwash, wash it with normal or hot water and let it dry. Boiling: One more way to effectively sanitize a toothbrush is a traditional boiling in a container, full of water. Boil the brush of about 15 minutes, and then let it dry. The only flaw of this method is that toothbrush bristle wears down quicker, than it normally would. Moreover, this method can’t be used to sanitize an electric toothbrush.

Toothbrush sanitizer: Lots of various toothbrush sanitizers are available on market. They come in the form of toothbrush holders, cases, or small sterilizing capsules for toothbrush heads.

Ultraviolet sterilization lamp: You can also sterilize your toothbrush, using ultraviolet sanitizer. To use an UV toothbrush cleaner, you need to turn over the toothbrush and put it in it. The cover of the device is transparent, so its light tells you, if it’s working or not. Sterilization lasts for about 10 minutes, and the device will automatically turn off afterwards.

Steam and dry heat sterilization: There are other electronic disinfecting devices, that sanitize toothbrushes with steam and dry heat.

Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2): You can sanitize your toothbrush by keeping it in a hydrogen peroxide solution. You need to renew it every day, so this is not a very comfortable method.
